According to the analysis of the China Africa Trade Research Center, South Africa is currently the largest export source of electronic products on the African continent. In 2015, its electronic product exports reached 9.5 billion US dollars, and South Africa is also one of the largest electronic product import markets on the African continent. At present, South Africa has the most advanced electronic product manufacturing technology in Africa, but apart from some transformers and printed circuit boards, South Africa hardly produces electronic components, which rely on imports.

Rocket Logistics has developed five South African routes for the export of electronic products to South Africa, including two channels for South African air freight including tax, two channels for South African air freight excluding tax, and one channel for South African sea freight including tax.

South African air freight package tax is divided into pure batteries and regular goods (electronic products can be used)

South African air freight does not include taxes, but also includes pure batteries and regular goods (electronic products can be shipped)

The certifications required for exporting to South Africa include

1. LOA certification

LOA certification is a mandatory certification for South African countries, and products exported to South Africa must obtain a LOA certificate issued by NRCS before customs clearance can be carried out.

2. SABS - Mandatory Certification in South Africa.

The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) was established under the National Standards Act of 1945 and is a subsidiary of the South African Ministry of Trade and Industry.

SABS certification is divided into two categories: product certification and system certification, and SABS product certification mainly includes the following eight categories: chemical products, biological products, fiber products and clothing, mechanical products, safety equipment, electrical products, civil and construction products, and automotive products. Among them, the building materials and products involved include: stone products, concrete products, roof materials, cement, lime, cement mixtures, natural building stones, safety glass, steel structures, wood and wood products, bricks, tiles, paint, coatings, sealants, etc.

3. NRCS certification

All electronic products entering the South African market are mandatory to obtain SABS EMI COC (EMC) and LOA (Safety) certifications. SABS regulates both EMC and security aspects. After the product passes the certification, it will receive two certificates: EMI COC (EMC) and LOA (Safety). Starting from September 2010, LOA was renamed NRCS.
